LSPD have been tipped off that a costal home is harboring a family responsible for the modification of weaponry, making semi-automatic weapons able to be switched to fully automatic. They also sell weapons here.

Description of "Ends of the Earth"

Ends of the Earth is the eighth mission in Ready or Not. The LSPD raid a home on the beachfront for distributing and illegally modifying weapons.

Mission Brief[]

Team Lead: Okay, Okay, everyone, take a seat, here's what we've got. We've got an interesting one on our hands. The faces you see on your tablets are the Tran brothers. They come from a normal family up in Kawayu. I know it's not our usual haunt. But we've got an arrest warrant for all three. An ongoing operation watching a car dealership in North Hills, which is a front for a weapon modification ring. We've got two guys on the inside at the dealership, and they noted that a lot of really interesting equipment is coming into the shop and being collected by Thau Tran. These parts are not your run-of-the-mill car parts either. We're talking about everything you need to convert a semi-automatic into a machine gun. These Tran boys are in above their heads and swimming in dangerous waters. The intel we got from inside the dealership is linking back to some large and very dangerous names. These boys don't know what they have gotten themselves into.

Officer: What are we looking for in the house?

Team Lead: I'm getting to that. Their eldest, Anh, is a mechanical engineer. They are getting the weapons from somewhere; he's modifying them in the attic with parts he orders from this North Hills dealership. We don't have the confirmation, but I suspect they are selling them through it too. Things are a little complicated, though. The boys live at home still. Their parents are older and retired. The boys' mom, Hue Nguyen, is dying. She's got stage IV lung cancer. She's the one who called us and gave us the information. Turns out they are struggling for money and can't afford her medical care. Her sons turned their hand to this as a means of getting enough cash to pay for her treatment and help get their dad out of debt.

Officer: Shit.

Team Lead: Yeah, and she's bedbound in the house. So when we get in there, we need to move quickly but carefully. I want a small team on the inside, with two teams waiting on sides 1 and 3, just in case things go south in a hurry. These boys are going to be armed, but I want to avoid a gunfight if we can do so. The parents will be home, and we have nothing tying them to the guns. But we need to clear that house, Mom included. We'll have an R/A on the scene to assist. We need to get into that attic and secure as much as we can. We need the Trans to be taken in so we can learn more about what they are doing and who they are doing it for.

Any questions? Any issues? Anything that's been missed? Great. Good luck out there, and stay safe.

Suspects
Name Description
Anh "Andy" Tran Anh is the family's oldest son, and is likely responsible for organizing their criminal activity.
Thao "Tom" Tran Thao is an important part of the process, but has a tendency to speak too much - causing him to have exposed the boys situation to the prying eyes of the LSPD.
Vinh "Vinny" Tran Vinny is the youngest brother transferring weapons to buyers around Los Suenos. It appears he doesn't have a developed understanding of the situation.
Diego Pérez Looked upon fondly by the Tran family. Perez' family has been going through financial issues of their own, and he has inherited the Tran's sense of duty.

Civilians
Name Description
Peter Tran Peter is the father of the Tran boys. He is aware of their actions, but recognizes the financial assistance it brings to the family. He's deeply ashamed of them, as well as himself. Peter is in his early 70s, sporting thin, grey hair, and a prominent bald spot on the crown of his head.
Hue Nguyen Hue is the affectionate mother of the Tran boys. She is looked upon fondly by them who see her as once being a strong and courageous individual. Hue is in her mid 70s, presenting a limp with robust gray hair.

The Map[]

There are two entry points: the beach and the street. Either point will put the SWAT team at opposite ends of the map.

Outside the home is a small shed, but rarely are there any occupants. It is also uncommon for anybody to be outside the home. The suspects are usually evenly distributed throughout the house, but sometimes may be concentrated on the second floor and the attic. A small number of Los Locos suspects are present in the house in addition to the known suspects. All suspects tend to shoot on sight and aren't prone to surrendering, so players looking to subdue all suspects alive and unharmed should heavily utilize less-lethal equipment.

The house has three levels; first floor, second floor, and an attic. The house is extremely close quarters, so using shorter weapons over longer ones is recommended. A number of the rooms, especially the living room and the attic, are dark so some sort of illumination is also recommended.

The first floor can be accessed at multiple entrances. The living room has a opening in the wall that leads to the garage. Players that choose to enter from the garage should be wary of the opening, as suspects can use it to spot and shoot the team easily. They can also travel through the opening. Peter Tran is usually located on the first floor, but sometimes appears on the second floor.

The staircase leading up to the second floor exposes the player to multiple angles of attack, as almost all of the doors face the stairs and many may be open at times. There are also a couple of blind corners that can't be seen around from the stairs. A coordinated team can tackle this hurdle by moving up the stairs with 360 degree coverage, and splitting into smaller elements to clear the floor. One door leads to an outdoor balcony, which provides an overview of the pool and the yard. This is a good vantage point to see if any suspects are outside. Hue Nguyen is located in her room on this floor. The bag of money soft objective is located in the left room, seen after going up the stairs and turning around.

The attic is accessed from the second floor. It consistently has one or more suspects ready to fight. Once in the attic, it splits into two paths that both lead to the room containing the 3D printing factory, the only hard objective in the mission.

Evidence[]

  • Coastal Grove Oncology Bill: A bill dated to a year prior, highlighting the cost of Hue's most recent oncology visits, as well as an outstanding price for previous services rendered. The paper is visible crinkled as if curled up into a ball and tossed aside.
    • The sub-total charges listed is $239,457.53.
  • Letter of Audit: Notice from the National Revenue Service regarding some recent discrepancies between the family's spending versus their stated income and jobs. It is dated to a month ago.
  • A Better Life: A photo of Peter and Hue, happy and smiling. Looks to be taken in around the 1990s. A note in Vietnamese is inscribed on the back.
    • Translated to English, the note reads: "Children, never forget the stories about the war and what we endured to have a better life, away from violence. I hope that you will soon stop what you are doing, your father does not need any more suffering. We do not want to see you face prison."

Connections to Other Maps[]

Greased Palms: The Los Locos member found at the Tran residence connects the Brothers to the gang, who are presumably distributing the guns modified by the Brothers.

Buy Cheap, Buy Twice: The Russia Mafia using Cesar's Car Yard as a front are supplying the Tran Brothers with the weapons for their operation. Their arrest results in the police investigating the Car Yard and placing it under surveillance, leading to D Platoon being dispatched to the scene.

Hide and Seek: The Human Traffickers are indirectly supplying the Tran Brothers by importing illegal arms into the country, which they exchange with the mafia for women to auction off as sex slaves in Port Hokan.

Trivia[]

  • In the bedroom where the bag of money soft objective is found, a gambling website is on screen as well as a listing for the family's car outside the house. The website suggests the boys are using online casinos to launder the money made from selling weapons.
  • An audio log found in the house reveals the parents went to the police to try to report their sons activities. A police officer called back, trying to set up another meeting with the parents.
  • It is theorized that the weapons used by the mass shooters in Elephant are from the Tran boys, but there is no evidence to back this theory up.
  • The Tran Family moved to Los Suenos in 2006, after being framed in Vietnam for extortion
