A group calling themselves the "Left Behind" are taking matters into their own hands by attempting to kill a politician responsible for a budget cut proposal to the already under-supported VAMC in Los Sueños.

Ides of March is the sixth playable mission in Ready or Not. A group of domestic terrorists have occupied the luxury Brisa Cove Apartments, taking several residents hostage. D-Platoon have been dispatched to neutralize the threat and defuse the situation ahead of the Senator's upcoming presidential campaign.

The Story

The Left Behind, a militia comprised of disillusioned veterans, have barricaded themselves inside the Brisa Cove Luxury Apartments in an attempt to assassinate presidential candidate Senator Freemont - Whose proposed new bill would cut much needed Veteran funding.

The terrorists have taken the residents of the building hostage, including a former naval officer and a famous music producer. They are well armed, equipped with light machine guns, assault rifles and body armor, and possess elite special forces training. SWAT is recommended to engage with extreme prejudice. By the time LSPD SWAT teams were dispatched to Brisa Cove, there were already 6 casualties. A gunman fired several shots with a sniper rifle from the King suite, hitting the senator, who remains stable but in critical condition. A second gunman fired shots out of the Queen suite window with a marksman rifle, killing two police officers and injuring three civilians. The status of the civilians on site is unknown.

Mission Brief

Team Lead: Alright, we've gotta roll, this just came in. There have been multiple calls coming in of an incident over in Brisa Cover Memorial Park. As assassination attempt on Senator Cornelius Fremont. This guy is supposed to be running for president in the next elections, so I'm sure you can all appreciate how much we don't need this to turn to shit right now.

The senator was holding a rally in the park when the shooting happened. Security was on site, but the shots came from further afield. Reports indicate it came from a building south of the park. Early details say there are several suspects holed up on the twelfth floor. We don't have much to work with, but we do know that the senator has received a few threats in recent weeks from a veterans group who were unhappy with the decision to cut VA hospital funding - a bill the senator heavily supported.

The senator is no longer on site, and uniforms have already cordoned off Memorial Park. I want us to hit that building and flush out whoever is up there. I know you can do jobs like this in your sleep, but I can't stress how badly we need this dealt with quickly and cleanly. We already cleared the building to the 12th floor. Now it's up to us to go in there and search every apartment that has a view of the Park, however marginal. I want guys on the roof and everywhere in between. Keep in contact and, for God's sake, communicate with one another as you go. I won't have anything falling through the cracks on this one. Any questions?

Officer: What's the status of the senator?

Team Lead: Last update was that he's alive, but barely. They got him good. Now, there's no time for sitting around. The building's plans are being uploaded as we speak. Familiarize yourselves with them before we head out.

Alright, time for questions. Anybody got anything burning they need clearing up? Great, now gear up and report back to your Element Leaders in the garage in 5 minutes.

Suspects

Name	Description
The "Left Behind"	Labeled by the LSPD as a domestic terrorist group, the Left Behind gained quick notoriety after attempting to assassinate Senator Cornelius Fremont at a rally he was holding. The suspects are likely veterans who have served in combat roles over the last 30 years, expect them to be well-trained and well-armed.

Laurie Bower	Laurie Bower, a famous producer and musician, lives on the 12th floor in apartment 02. His granddaughter has notified the LSPD that he was present in his apartment at the time of the shooting.
David Sfarienn	Formerly a Naval Officer, David Sfarienn is likely still inside the building. He lives in apartment 1203.
Barbara Penshaw	Barbara is known to be inside the building at the time of the shooting. She lives in 1204 with her husband, Erik.
Erik Penshaw	Erik Penshaw was on the phone to his lawyer at the time of the shooting, who informed police briefly after the call went dead. It has been confirmed he is somewhere on floor 12.

Caller: We need the police. Someone just killed the senator.

911: I'm sorry, sir. Can you repeat that?

Caller: We need the police. I'm at Memorial Park, and someone just shot Senator Fremont.

911: OK, sir, thank you. Can I take your name?

Caller: Carlos.

911: Thanks, Carlos. You said someone has been shot. Was there a dispute or...

Caller: No, no, you're not listening. Someone shot Senator Fremont as he was giving a speech. It wasn't anybody up close. It must have been a sniper or something. I... I don't know, alright. I was listening to his speech when there was a gunshot, and he hit the deck. It's mayhem down here.

911: OK, Carlos, I'm going to need to ask you to stay calm. The police are inbound. You say the shooter was not in the park?

Caller: No... yes... oh god, maybe. But they weren't in the crowd. He was shot from a ways away, you know.

911: I understand, Carlos, thank you. So, to confirm, there's no active shooter in the park.

Caller: Uh, no no, this was a targeted attack. They, they wanted the senator. Fucking city, man. I hate it here.

911: Thank you, Carlos. As I said, the police are inbound. Please stay out of the way and let the emergency services work. Thank you for calling and please stay safe.

Caller: Ok, ok. Thanks. God, what a day.

The Map

Two insertion points are available: the fire exit or the residential staircase. They are located on opposite ends of the floor.

All suspects wear body armor and wield powerful weapons, such as custom AR15s and the M249 LMG. If the player is not attempting to subdue every suspect alive, it is recommend to bring weapons capable of defeating body armor. Explosive booby traps are present on a few doors, so checking for traps before breaching any door is advised. Civilian hotel employees are present throughout the level.

Apartments 1201 and 1202 are connected to each other, and apartments 1203 and 1204 are connected to each other. A large open common area is in the middle of the floor, which has multiple points of entry. A three room laundry unit is located on the opposite ends of the apartment units.

Inside apartment 1201 is the location of one of the marksman rifles used in the assassination attempt, and is a main objective. Apartment 1202 can be entered from 1201 and vice versa, and Laurie Bower is usually located here. 1202 also has an outdoor section and one or more suspects are usually present there.

1203 where Sfarienn is usually located, and connects to 1204. Inside 1204 is where the Penshaw couple is usually located, as well as the second marksman rifle main objective. 1204 is noticeably darker than the other apartment units, and the low visibility makes it much easier for suspects to perform ambushes.

The common area has some cover and concealment at the ends of the room, but the middle of the room is very open with no cover or concealment. A dark closet is located near the bar in the room.

The laundry unit is fairly small, but has a couple of areas that suspects can hide behind such as a space behind a row of washing machines and a room with very little lighting.

• Laser Rangefinder: The laser rangefinder used by the Left Behind shooters to target Senator Fremont during his Brisa Cove Memorial Park campaign.
• Left Behind's Plan Of Attack: Aerial photograph of the Brisa Cove Memorial Park area with a clear plan for when Fremont and his team will be campaigning, along with times and the best windows for an attack. It appears to include a backup plan in case the primary plan fails, highlighting the route his motorcade will head towards in the event of a high-risk incident. Someone gave them this intel.
• Johnson's Personal Effects: An old, dusty box found by Detective Reed while examining the scene. This box contains a number of items: a photo of some officers, as well as a suspicious photo of the Brisa Cover memorial park.
  • This evidence shows a photo of a group of men standing outside a USIA building.

Trivia

• This is the first mission where the player encounters suspects with body armor and modern military weapons.
• Evidence found in the Evidence Locker suggest the Left Behind were possibly aided by a third-party.
• Reports about the number of casualties vary depending on the source.
• All suspects are Caucasian with the exception of one African-American suspect who has no voicelines.
• The enemies on this map are unique in several ways:
  • Several of the terrorists have bionic/prosthetic limbs, likely as a result of injuries sustained in battle. However, they still move at the same speed as other suspects that have all their limbs.
  • The enemies on this map seem to have a higher resistance to CS gas. They are affected by it, but are less likely to be pacified by it than other enemies.
  • Shooting their prosthetic leg will not have any effect.
• In the music producer's room you can find a Golden record on the wall for Mobius referencing the 2022 hit film Morbius.
• This mission is considered a significant difficulty bump compared to previous missions. A recommended strategy is to wedge the doors of the apartments, clear the common area and laundry unit, and then clear the apartment units last. Use the connecting rooms of each apartment unit to prevent suspects from fleeing the unit from the other units' entrances.
