Rig HeavyWell A-101, the first rig permitted to drill in the lucrative oil reserves off Los Suenos, has been attacked by the eco-terrorist group UPF, who have taken hostages. S.W.A.T. with jurisdiction under an amendment to the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, have been called to the scene.
Description of "Leviathan"
Leviathan is a DLC mission in Ready or Not: Dark Waters. Members of the United Planet Front have attacked the HeavyWell A-101 Oil Rig off the coast of Los Suenos; multiple civilians have been killed and the attack in being currently livestreamed by the perpetrators. Thanks to a new amendment to federal law allowing municipal police greater jurisdiction over maritime territory, the LSPD SWAT team is deployed via helicopter and boat to bring an end to the crisis.
The Story[]
Ever since the attack on Sven Anderson-Lincoln's mansion, the United Planet Front (UPF) has only become more radicalized. After the death or arrest of Tobias Gibson, the UPF is under new leadership. The group initially returned to their roots as a group of young ideologues on college campuses, but has since become radicalized yet again. They have resumed their violent activities, yet instead of trying to keep collateral damage to a minimum, as seen in Lawmaker, the UPF has resorted to more "anti-human" measures, becoming a full-fledged domestic terrorist group.
It appears the attack on the oil rig has been planned for some time. Shortly before the attack, a member of the UPF attempted to assassinate the Governor of California, Andrew Whitfield, with a handgun while he was giving a speech at the LSPD Headquarters. The assassination attempt was unsuccessful - the Governor was uninjured and the shooter was almost immediately shot and killed - yet the incident successfully drew law enforcement's attention away from the UPF's next target: the HeavyWell A-101 Oil Rig,
The UPF manipulated a sympathetic worker on the oil rig into helping them. Members of the UPF manipulated the worker into giving them crucial information about the rig and its workers, while falsely claiming no innocents would be hurt. Upon successfully boarding the rig, the UPF rounded up all the workers: most were taken hostage, but some had nooses tied around their necks and were thrown off the rig, strangling them to death and displaying their corpses as a message. The workers were eventually rounded up into a single room and the UPF began spreading their message; livestreaming the ordeal online, while also dialing 911 to recite their manifesto to the 911 operators listening. LSPD SWAT and COAST were deployed to the scene to stop the crisis.
Mission Brief[]
Team Lead: Alright, everybody, settle down and bring it in. I know it's early, but we've got something developing, and it's gonna be a new situation for all of us.
We've received a call from the new drilling rig that sits off the coast. These UPF assholes have stormed the rig and taken everybody there hostage. At 08:04 this morning, we also received a recorded message from the group confirming their intentions and demands. We don't know when it was recorded, but we know it's genuine, as we also received a call from a worker on the rig. He confirmed that shots have been fired and there are already multiple fatalities.
This is a whole new ballpark for us, and I know we've all done the training and we've been preparing for off-shore operations, but this is a big one. That's why I've asked Commander Hugh Maberry from the C.O.A.S.T. to take control of this briefing. This will be a baptism of fire, so listen up and brace yourselves because it will be a case of grabbing your gear and wheels up as soon as he's finished.
Commander Maberry: Thank you, sir. Folks, I won't waste your time talking about the shooters because you have all had more recent experiences with that than I have. But you are flying into a dangerous situation, and you need to be aware of everything going on around you every second you re out there.
Rigs are a dangerous place to be in any case, in this situation even more so. You need to shut these guys down as quickly as possible. Shooting up an oil rig means we're one stray bullet away from a natural disaster. It'll be a different world once you get there. The winds out there on a day like today will play havoc with everything, and you'll need to watch your every step. An active drilling platform will be noisy, and any moving parts pose a threat to you and the rig's safety. There will be narrow spaces, lots of cover, and a sheer drop down into the Pacific.
You're used to dangerous situations, but I can tell you I've seen experienced men struggle to deal with the unique nature of rig disasters in the past, so I know what I'm talking about. Know your surroundings, out there it's just as much of a threat as the assholes we're out to get.
If there are no immediate questions, we'll move on.
Team Lead: Now pay close attention. I want everybody sharp out there. Whether it's a rig, a boat, or a desert fucking island, your job remains the same: Get in, get the job done, and get everybody home. We've got three entry points that are being uploaded to your tablets. The message we received from the terrorists confirms they want to shut the rig down, which is very dangerous if they don't know what they are doing. We don't know what they are doing with the hostages, but we need to get them out, too. These guys will be spread all over the rig and are crazy enough to do anything.
Okay, I've just been told these fuckers are live-streaming their attack on the rig. We need to shut that down ASAP! Whatever happens out there I don't want a fucking bloodbath broadcast for the whole world to see.
It's time to move, I want equipment checks completed and everyone ready to load up, head out to board this rig in 20 minutes.

| The UPF was founded in the mid 1980s as a grass roots youth movement intent on saving the planet. These intentions remained as such until Tobias Gibson & Mark Cross joined, turning the organization into a military front with eco-terrorist ideals.
Since operation Lawmaker on February 19, 2026 with the primary suspects apprehended, the UPF power vacuum has since returned it back into the hands of younger innocent ideologues on college campuses, however in the short term after the subsequent operation, the UPF has since ramped up its extremist practices once again under a new direction. No longer a military front hiding behind an ideological cover, it has transformed into an extremist underground terrorist network, suggesting new leaders have taken the reigns and are directing their members into more extremist "anti-human" measures to demonstrate their point of a pervasive mind virus being pushed in their network as a memetic angle to further evangelize the organization; to what end and by whom is one for the LSPD to determine (or FISA if things keeps escalating). The battle of drilling licenses and protesting construction of the Rig have been contentious subjects in Los Sueños; coupled with the Governor's assassination attempt the timing was all too perfect to start this siege as the media and public perceptions remain distracted, investigators have determined this attack was planned for some time. | |||||

Available intel cannot verify how many workers we can expect & who's on staff with short notice at the beginning of the day & in addition to the UPF utilizing Heavywell's workers uniforms, LSPD have asked it's operatives to take extreme caution with their shot placements & conformation of their targets. Remember, these are just everyday working class Americans. The rig is what the UPF are after but they've demonstrated they'll stop at nothing to secure it even if it means wiping out the staff on board. | |||||
