Relapse is the penultimate and seventeenth mission in Ready or Not. The mission takes place in May 8, 2025, as the third mission chronologically about 3 weeks after Neon Tomb.

The Story

A leader of The Hand who took part in the shooting at the Neon Nightclub is taken into medical care. The group storms the Coastal Grove Medical Center in an attempt to prevent the suspect from being taken into police custody. The LSPD's SWAT team is deployed to intercept the cell.

Mission Brief

Team Lead: Calls have come in from the Coastal Grove Medical Center of an active shooting taking place. Now what we know so far is that approximately twenty minutes ago, the first reports came in of gunmen forcing their way into the medical center. Now, initial reports, along with social media data unearthed by the department's intel analysis, point to this being The Hand.

As if we didn't have enough to worry about, we've also had reports that some of the gunmen are dressed as hospital staff. That means we need to detain everybody.

I know, I know, they are not going to be happy about it, but we can't take any chances. We need to get in, lock down the hospital, and restrain anybody in a hospital uniform or behaving suspiciously. We know there are multiple shooters, but we don't have an exact number. From the information we've gotten from 911 calls, these guys are shooting anybody they see.

If this is The Hand, then it's probably in retaliation to us capturing Quadamah. I've spoken with the anti-terrorism unit, but they haven't had any intel on who has taken over.

The LSPD is now briefed on securing the perimeter and locking down all entry and exit points. I want two teams. One will take the main entrance, and the other will enter through the West rear side entrance by the staff locker room. You've all been sent plans to the hospital, and I want you to study them. This isn't going to be pretty and I want you to study them. This isn't going to be pretty, and we all know that.

He has been transferred to Coastal Grove Medical Center to receive medical care. It is likely Qadamah is inside the building.

The Map

Coastal Grove Medical Center Layout

The mission is at a hospital with 2 floors. The ground floor is connected to the ambulance intake and the second floor is divided into 2 parts connected by a glass bridge. There are many doors that suspects can hide behind and go through and thus an attack from the rear is very much possible. This map is also the largest map in the entire game, missions can go on for around 30 minutes to an hour.

Trivia

• Evidence found by completing the mission at S-rank shows that Qadamah ordered the The Hand to attack critical infrastructure around LS after his demise, including hospitals.
  • He also mentions that the Hand is still "40 [men] strong." After Relapse, it can be assumed The Hand still has around 20 operatives on American soil.
• In this mission, idle Hand members can be heard searching for "him" and also mention killing "him." While it is unconfirmed, since it is known they are searching for Qadamah it is a possibility that they are at the hospital to kill him. However, this would not make sense as upon reaching Qadamah he has been armed with a pistol, and members of The Hand do not fire on him.
  • More evidence to support this is members of the Hand talking about how "that boy" got their people killed. However, it is possible this dialogue might be a mixed-up voiceline that was meant to go to a civilian.
• Dialogue in the briefing for The Spider implies that Coastal Grove Medical Center is back up and running 8 months later.
